The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught us the necessity of giving charity without delay, how it gives us protection, saves us from hellfire, and also how it acts as a purifier of wealth.

Zakat can only be distributed among a specific group of people as stipulated in the Qur’an, while Sadaqah can be given to anybody in need of help.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ZAKAT AND SADAQAH DONATION?

Zakat amounts to 2.5% of an individual’s annual savings, and cannot be given on behalf of another person. Sadaqah, on the other hand, can be given in any amount one wishes and can be given on behalf of another person.
